James Phin (c.1756 - 1836).

James was possibly born in November 1755 in Denhead of Gray, Liff and Benvie, Angus, the son of Patrick Finn.

Ann Chalmers (1760 - 18??).

Ann was born June 1760, the daughter of Alexander Chalmers (born 25 April 1736 in Liff Benvie & Invergowrie, Angus; died there 12 March 1826) and Elizabeth Thomson (born 1735 in Fowlis Easter, Angus; died 13 July 1809 in Liff Benvie & Invergowrie).

They were married 17 December 1780 in Liff Benvie & Invergowrie.  James died in Dundee 9 December 1836.

Their children were all born in Dundee:

Betty Phin was born 15 May 1783.

Janet Phin was born 11 February 1785.

Amelia Pattullo Phin *** was born 13 July 1786.  She married William Moncur in Longforgan, Angus, 17 July 1808 and had nine children: Thomas (1809) ***, Janet (1811), William Elder (1813), Ann (1815), Harriet (1817), Alexander (1819), Margaret Brown (1822), James (1824) and David (1831).

Thomas Phin *** (1788 - 1871).

Thomas was born in Dundee 24 August 1788.

Ann Binny (c.1778 - 185?).

Ann was born in Rescobie, Forfarshire, about 1778.  She was ten years older than Thomas.

They were living in Hunter Street, Dundee in 1841 and at 3 Hunter Street in 1851.  Thomas was a grocer.

Their children were:

Helen Finn *** was born about 1808.  She married Donald Munro ***.

Alexander Barry Finn *** was baptised 27 November 1809.  A millwright, machine maker and engine fitter, he married Helen Bruce in Dundee, 2 May 1828.  Their children were Barbara (1829), Alan (c.1836) John (c.1838), Thomas *** (1840), Ellen Shields (1842). Elizabeth (c. 1844), David Henderson *** (c.1847) and Robert (c.1853).  Alexander died 7 Februry 1884.

Mary Brown Finn was baptised in 1812.

John Brown Finn was born 16 January 1815.

David Finn was born 19 March 1817.

Thomas Finn was born 20 August 1820.  He married Margaret Thoms in Dundee 23 October 1840.  Their children were Ann Binny (1841), John (or Joanna) Miller (1842), Thomas (1844), Isabel Davidson (1846), Robert (1849) and William McDonald (1851).  They may have emigrated to Australia.

Ann Finn was born 20 April 1823.

Ann must have died in the 1850s, as on 22 July 1857 Thomas married Mary Binny in Aberlemno, Angus.  In 1861 he was at 7 Hunter Street, Dundee, with his new wife and was described as spirit dealer (aged 71).   In 1871 they were at Crosstown, Aberlemno.  Thomas was now a retired grocer, age 83.  He died the same year and was buried in Dundee 14 December.  Mary died in 1874 and was buried in Aberlemno.
